School began on August 29th. We enter 1st grade, 6th grade, and 7th grade this year.
We frequently use our 9 month old for entertainment purposes. So, when it was time for school to begin I had him ring his school bell in his pj’s. It was quite effective.
I came down to my desk looking like this…
One child made me an apple and another substituted a rotten banana. I really should stock up next year on some apples.
It would make their job of being sweet a little easier.
We had a whirlwind and unexpected trip to Portland to celebrate the life of my husband’s grandpa. I chose to stretch out the first week of curriculum over the first two weeks of school. So, today we have officially completed week one.
The star of the show so far has been Expedition Earth. The girls are adoring it. The first we day we issued passports for our year long trip around the world.
We have completed the introductory week about continents.
We have made puzzles.
…learned how to read maps, studied basics about the world, looked at longitude and latitude and much more. The favorite activity so far was our salt dough world maps.
I am loving the curriculum we are using this year. Every single piece so far. I am so glad I went through the extra effort to get an eclectic mix for our year. It’s totally worth it.
Looking forward to a great year with my lovelies.
